FAQ > Questions about Therapy > What should I bring with me to the first session?
If you are wanting to bill your insurance carrier for the sessions, bring your insurance card. Your therapist will make a copy of the front and back of the card and keep in your file. We can bill your insurance for you, if you prefer. Bring cash, credit card, checks or money order for the right amount of your copay, if any. (Check with your insurance carrier on what your benefits and eligibility are for outpatient mental health sessions).
If you do not want your insurance carrier to be billed for the sessions, or you do not have insurance, just tell your therapist. We will talk about options, including, but not limited to, sliding scale fees. (We do not accept Medicaid - but do work with Medicare recipients).
If you are a UofI student, bring your Student ID. We can bill your Student Insurance.
