Not necessarily. Some counselors who indicate membership in any religious association, may be able to incorporate prayer or other religious expressions into the sessions at your request. Counselors and therapists come from varied backgrounds and experiences. If you do not want religion to be incorporated in any way into your sessions, you have options: let your counselor know ahead of time; keep your counselor posted if you feel the sessions are too 'religious" or talk with your counselor about finding a better match. Most counselors do not offer religious support in sessions. This a personal preference for an individual. One could always start with their specific religious leaders, priests, rabbis, ministers, etc. if religious concerns or questions come into play.
